Is there a secret to throwing an amazingly fun wedding? We’re not sure, but if there is, Vanessa and Alex can share it with you. This wedding was one of the most fun we have ever documented. Seriously, from the beginning of the day to the end, it was awesome. When we walked into Alex’s room, he had a huge afro wig on and was drinking whiskey out of a thermos labeled “Groom.” Vanessa’s room was filled with a bunch of family, friends, and kids, creating a feeling of happiness and excitement. Everyone invited to the wedding (about 300 guests) showed up to party, and we absolutely loved it! The energy on the dance floor was high from beginning to end. The climax had to be when Alex surprised Vanessa with The Spazmatics, an 80′s style cover band that they had seen while spending their first New Year’s Eve together. Vanessa left the ballroom to get a quick change of look and re-entered with the band jamming on the stage. From that point on we didn’t see the couple leave the dance floor (unless it was to grab a quick shot). Vanessa even jumped off the stage and flew into the crowd, being the first bride we’ve ever seen body surf at their own wedding! So much fun! We loved every minute of it.
This totally made our day so much brighter. All the PS girls were smiling and loving these images captured at The Sherman’s Family Shoot. We photograph so many people and families, and it such a breath of fresh air to photograph a family as original as this one. We can not take any credit for the styling of this shoot. Nirvana, the night before the shoot, waved her wand of style and put it together all on her own. It’s ironic that she couldn’t narrow down a look until the night before the shoot, however, the final result could not have been any better. The wall colors matched this fun family perfectly.
The Orozco family has grown so much. We first photographed them at their wedding 5 years ago, and now they are a family of four! We chose a fun location, but now that Nicole is one, her personality is shining through, which made it even more fun. We were able to catch the personalities of both girls. Natalie is independent, sweet, and gentle. Nicole, on the other hand, has some spunk. Their personalities are so amazingly different, yet you can already see the sister bond they are creating. Too adorable! The color scheme that Gina and Javier chose ended up blending together perfectly with the South Beach backdrop. Together these photographs show beautiful moments between this family we’ve known for so long. It makes us so happy that they will be able to have these small moments forever captured. Check out the cuteness below.
So what does a photographer do on a Sunday that was suppose to entail a creative photo shoot, but resulted with a cancellation? I was so looking forward to this scheduled shoot. My creative juices were pumping and to top it off the day was just perfect, with a fall cool breeze. I just couldn’t brush off the energy I had, so I decided to take my boys on a road trip through the Redlands and hoping to find a unique spot to snap some photos of them. I do have to say, I was not expecting much from the kids. I usually have such a hard time photographing my own kids… go figure. Surprisingly my quiet, shy, akward Aiden was in the mood. It was as if this day was meant for shooting my kids. Evan is usually my little model but this particular day, Aiden stole the show. I couldn’t tell you which is my favorite picture. Each photo I was able to capture Aiden’s sweet soul. I had a ridiculously goofy smile the entire time I was editing the photographs. XO- Patty
Fall is officially here, and it’s only because we photographed our first fall shoot of the season. Although we have had a few degrees drop, it hasn’t really felt like fall. That is until Adelyn’s photo shoot. She definitely got us in the fall spirit. We photographed Adelyn in her halloween costume.. Talk about the cutest Snow White ever! The second outfit change was a fall chic look, with fur boots and all. We just love photographing this little princess and can’t get enough of her.
What can I say about Nicole’s shoot.. She was such a natural in front of the camera. From beginning to end, Nicole had this model-esque way about her. She knew how to work her face so well. We did four very different looks for Nicole. We started at our secret spot, with a very natural look. Her personality is laid back and she’s a little quiet. We love that she can be serious, yet so beautiful. For her second look, we had first wanted to do a bohemian look. But once Nicole showed us the feathered head-piece, we knew it was going to be the perfect look for her, seeing that she looks like a real-life Pocahontas. Nicole’s third look had a very clean, airy feel. White sand, light blue dress, jeweled headband. It was all monochrome, with just her black hair. So gorgeous! Lastly, Nicole got a new Range Rover for her birthday, which she really wanted to be in the pictures. What better spot than downtown Miami?! Nicole was in her element during this last look. She absolutely rocked it! Hair and Makeup —-> Makeup and the City
I can’t take too much credit for this photo shoot. I am usually full of ideas and a bit nosey with my clients during the planning stages of a shoot. I always give suggestions on outfits, locations and props, however Katie had ideas of her own. She had Allie’s outfit ordered and since Allie loves her sweets she knew she wanted a cake smash. Outfit check, props check, what about location? Katie had an idea for location too, sunflower field. Geesh a sunflower field sounds more than perfect but how am I ever going to find one? Turns out the stars were aligned and I found a field of sunflowers. Katie said this shoot is so Allie, because she is full love, color, and sunshine. She was right, Allie was so happy and full of energy.
How do I start to describe Jessica and Steven’s wedding?! There is so much to love about this day. Let me first tell you that Jessica’s cool and calm demeanor was refreshing. We never know what to expect when we first open the doors to the bridal room. Many times we walk into chaos, as you can imagine. Steven’s room was no different with laughs and drinks filling the room. The getting ready portion of a wedding day is so important, although, some clients opt out of having us there. It really is a great opportunity to take intimate and candid photographs. Some of my favorite pictures from this day was of Jessica’s dad seeing her for the first time… we totally got chocked up. Moments like these are little surprises that as photographers we are so happy to be able to capture. Being that Jessica is in the wedding industry, we had a hunch that the decor at the Bath Club would be out of this world. We were right! The ceremony, reception and cocktail hour decor gave off a romantic and vintage feel. I adored the unique little touches, like the unexpected felt bird hanging out on a twig, or the cute little phrase on a pillow at the cocktail hour. They even had a sign in area that consisted of guests signing a globe. Like I said, I can go on and on about the details. We felt like ninjas with cameras trying to capture every linen, table, chair, flower, everything. What I think was most impressive was the distressed wood wall that was designed by Jessica herself. The wood walls were found on each end of the ballroom, one behind the sweet heart table and the other behind the DJ booth. This specific piece not only enhanced the room and showed off this grand ballroom, but it also had shelving that allowed for more florals; you must scroll down and see for yourself. The dinner had an intimate feel, although it was a large wedding, the lighting added the perfect touch. The night ended with a huge surprise! Before I say the surprise let me first tell you that Jessica and Steven are die hard Miami Heat fans, so much that we even included the Miami Airlines Arena in the engagement session. Jessica, being the coolest wife ever, arranged for Burnie (the Miami Heat mascot) to surprise Steven. Picture this… Steven and Jessica dancing, when all of the sudden the DJ changes the music and raises the volume, and with an arena voice the DJ announces everyone to look at the stage. Burnie jumps off the stage, darts towards the couple, tosses Steven over his back, and simultaneously confetti guns launched thousands of paper confetti onto the dance floor. It was such a fantastic feeling being on the dance floor, the energy was contagious. It was epic!
Melissa and Cesar wanted a unique maternity session. This couple didn’t have the opportunity to do an engagement session, so they wanted to go all out for their baby bump. Melissa shopped and shopped until she found the most perfect dress. Lucky for us, we chose the most perfect day, too. Fairchild Tropical Gardens is truly an oasis, so much lush landscape to work with; so much of it that it’s impossible to visit and photograph each section of the gardens in one day. I took the couple to some of my favorite spots and one newly discovered spot, the lilly pond, the trellace, the caucus garden and last but not least the butterfly garden. It was my first time visiting the butterfly garden, and I was in heaven. It was the perfect ending to our shoot. Although I have photographed at fairchild a number of times, it has been over a year since the last time. Melissa and Cesar made me fall in love with it all over again. I can’t wait to shoot there again.
Sadly, summer is over. But, it’s still steaming hot, so let’s pretend we’re still in bathing suit season! This teen, Isa, pulled off this fun, summer glam look so well! With a little help from the inspiration gods (Pinterest), we were able to come up with a cool/different concept for Isa. This shows off so much personality! We love nothing more than a teen who is ready to be cute and bubbly (with a little sass). Who says you can’t be glamorous in a bathing suit? Props were a must. We came up with the idea of having lots of jewelry, a flamingo, a coke bottle, and the cool “All about the Benjamins” money towel. So cute! We worked along side “The Glaminator” herself, Isa Amezaga, from Makeup and the City . We had such a blast! Can’t wait for our next shoot filled with personality and fun.
