Olivia came to the shoot on a mission– to not take any pictures. This was completely unexpected considering she’s a 3 year old who loves to be photographed! Last time I did a family session with her, Olivia was only 1, so as you can imagine, my excitement to see this family was sky-high! It may have been my overenthusiastic energy when they first arrived– or maybe it was the extra long car ride considering they totally got lost when trying to find my secret field!– but Olivia was not having it. My goal was to turn her sour puss face to the happy Olivia that I remembered. Luckily, while I was waiting for them to arrive, I spotted a cocoon… And so we began to explore for the raccoon (pronounced by Olivia) to get her warmed up to me again. The exploration for this mysterious cocoon led itself to some gorgeous natural photographs. Before I knew it, Olivia had a smile on her face. Especially when she found the cocoon aka racooon. We even ended the shoot with a fun bike ride on her cool pink ride. The photo shoot started with a frown and unfortunately ended with one after Olivia had a little slip and fall– but the in between was well worth it! Nothing makes me more sad than ending a shoot with a cutie getting hurt… But, I received a text from mommy saying Olivia missed me and was trying to shout through the window, “Bye Patty, it was nice to meet you!” as she was leaving. Melts my heart! Those are the moments that make me realize how lucky I am to be doing this as my job!
