{Jeanette and Sean} Miami Wedding Photography | Spanish Monastery

Categories: Weddings Tags: + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Jeanette and Sean’s wedding was not your average vintage wedding. Their wedding had a beautiful dark romance undertone.  The inspiration was the hit television series Downton Abbey.  There were an abundant amount of details, and they were all unique.  The style of the wedding perfectly complimented the venue.  The Spanish Monastery is a venue that offers a romantic, yet dramatic feel which transported us right back in to this old century styled wedding.  Jeanette and Sean are deeply in love with each other, and it was a little too easy to get candid romantic moments between the two of them.  Another detail that made this wedding so beautiful was the children. There is something about kids at weddings that we totally love.  These kids were styled with floral crowns and suspenders… the perfect touch for their theme.  The synergy between the two families was so sweet. It’s so rare to see two families who mesh so perfectly together.  We love this couple, and it was such a pleasure to be a part of their wedding.

{Brooke and Eugene} Miami Wedding Photography | Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

01.23.2015

Where to begin… I hope the photographs do most of the talking, but I will fill in you in on some behind the scenes information. Brooke and Eugene started their day getting ready at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut Grove. The location was close to the reception that took place at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. It also made for a beautiful backdrop for all the getting ready images. As we walked into Brooke’s room, we were happy to see a lot of family and friends in her suite. There was champagne flowing, music filling the air, and lots of laughter. Brooke was calm and collected, which was expected (she is the most relaxed and chill bride ever). One of my favorite moments was when Brooke took the time to put makeup on the flower girl… too cute! In the groom’s room, we walked in on Eugene getting a fresh shave by his personal barber. The mood was relaxed and fun. I would say Eugene would agree that a highlight that happened in his getting ready was his present from Brooke. Let’s just say Eugene was blushing, while flipping through Brooke’s boudoir photo album. It was a classic reaction that was funny to witness. Luckily the wedding coordinator, Jennifer Johnson, allotted a large amount of time for us to take photographs of this gorgeous couple. We were lucky enough to have a 15 minute photo shoot at Vizcaya with the bride. The couple agreed to seeing each other before the ceremony, a tradition very common in Jewish religion. We call this a “First Look,” and we had the best backdrop to capture the moment. A full hour was put aside for this and for portraits, needless to say we were like kids in a candy store. Brooke and Eugene are gorgeous, and they are amazing in front of the camera. It was so fun watching and photographing the moments that were exchanged between these two love birds. Eugene has a way of making Brooke feel like a princess. He was so sweet and genuine with her. It was an amazing thing to watch. We had so many amazing portraits, and it was so difficult to narrow down the number for the blog. This is a problem that makes us so happy. The romantic feel transitioned into the ceremony, where the decor lighting was warm and inviting. The pink cherry blossom huppa made the ceremony look like something out of a fairy tale. The decor at the reception was no different. Lighting is so important at an event. It can transform a space, giving it depth and feeling; this wedding was a perfect example of amazing lighting. The dinner area was displayed between a beautiful ocean front and Vizcaya’s main house. The main house was lit with colorful lighting patterns and the stage for the band was built on top of the water… it was just gorgeous! Dinner started with a “smoking” salad that was housed inside a glass encasing. The waiters brought each guest an individual salad and opened the glass encasing to allow the smoke to float out and into the air. Definitely a presentation to remember, and something that is best described in photographs, LOL (scroll down). So many surprises happened throughout the night. The first dance ended with an 8 minute firework presentation… Can you imagine fireworks as you’re sharing your first dance with your Mr. or Mrs.?! There were also two surprise guests that were completely unexpected and may need some explaining. During the cocktail hour, Eugene played a little joke on Brooke (something that Brooke says happens quite often). This time, the joke was in front of 170 family and friends. So, for weeks Eugene has been telling Brooke that he wanted to adopt a Lemur while in Africa, on their honeymoon. He was quite convincing, according to Brooke. He even bought books and printed out research material on owning a Lemur and how to bring it into the country. Fast forward to the wedding day, Eugene wanted to end the joke with a bang and had a Lemur visit the wedding. All of the guests loved petting the Lemur and took photographs with the adorable little creature. The second guest was even more shocking, if you can believe that. No story needed, President Obama was the second guest! Ok fine… not the real Obama, but Reggie Brown an impersonator. “Obama” had the guests laughing historically. It was the most original form of entertainment that we have ever seen at a wedding. As you can see, this wedding will not be forgotten. Every detail was amazing and most importantly memorable. Kudos to all the amazing vendors especially… Jennifer J Events who perfectly orchestrated this platinum wedding. XO

When we were first contacted by Shumeng and Haonan, we immediately were excited because she told us she was from China and that she would love to shoot her couture dress in Vizcaya. We added the idea of video and Shumeng was beyond excited. A Vera Wang gown, a gorgeous location, and an exotic couple.. what more can we ask for? Although the shoot was simple, the drama the couple brought was the perfect touch to this romantic setting. Don’t forget to press play!!

{Josh and Albert} Miami Styled Shoot | Same Sex Marriage

Categories: Weddings Tags: + + + + + + + + +
12.10.2014

At PS Photography we are firm believers that love is love. This is why we are so excited to show off this same-sex marriage styled photo shoot. The shoot was put together by a team of amazing vendors. The EPIC: A Kimpton Hotel hosted the photo shoot. The EPIC makes for a cool trendy setting that fits our couple perfectly. Rick from Avant Gardens created gorgeous floral accents for the photo shoot. He mixed different elements like metal, wood and florals together, it was just beautiful. A wedding wouldn’t be a wedding without a wedding cake, & thanks to Edda’s Cake Design we got a cool, yet simple cake. Josh and Albert arrived in style, thanks to Florian’s Classics. I love a good car picture on the day of the wedding! A gorgeous car + champagne + garland made us all happy. Josh and Albert were so happy the entire shoot, it made us all grin the whole time. These two definitely compliment each other. We noticed it right away, but when we interviewed them for the video (which we also created) is when we realized how smitten they were with each other. They both had such cute and sweet things to say about each other. Please be sure to not only scroll down at the photographs, but also press play on the video. PS Photography has been so busy this year making videography an addition to our services and we are so thrilled to finally be able to share some of our videography skills. We hope you love both the photography and videography that we created for this great couple.

{Vanessa and Alex} Miami Wedding Photography | Four Seasons Miami

11.20.2014

Is there a secret to throwing an amazingly fun wedding? We’re not sure, but if there is, Vanessa and Alex can share it with you. This wedding was one of the most fun we have ever documented. Seriously, from the beginning of the day to the end, it was awesome. When we walked into Alex’s room, he had a huge afro wig on and was drinking whiskey out of a thermos labeled “Groom.” Vanessa’s room was filled with a bunch of family, friends, and kids, creating a feeling of happiness and excitement. Everyone invited to the wedding (about 300 guests) showed up to party, and we absolutely loved it! The energy on the dance floor was high from beginning to end. The climax had to be when Alex surprised Vanessa with The Spazmatics, an 80′s style cover band that they had seen while spending their first New Year’s Eve together. Vanessa left the ballroom to get a quick change of look and re-entered with the band jamming on the stage. From that point on we didn’t see the couple leave the dance floor (unless it was to grab a quick shot). Vanessa even jumped off the stage and flew into the crowd, being the first bride we’ve ever seen body surf at their own wedding! So much fun! We loved every minute of it.

{Jessica and Steven} Miami Wedding Photography | Tuscan Romance

09.18.2014

How do I start to describe Jessica and Steven’s wedding?! There is so much to love about this day. Let me first tell you that Jessica’s cool and calm demeanor was refreshing. We never know what to expect when we first open the doors to the bridal room. Many times we walk into chaos, as you can imagine. Steven’s room was no different with laughs and drinks filling the room. The getting ready portion of a wedding day is so important, although, some clients opt out of having us there. It really is a great opportunity to take intimate and candid photographs. Some of my favorite pictures from this day was of Jessica’s dad seeing her for the first time… we totally got chocked up. Moments like these are little surprises that as photographers we are so happy to be able to capture. Being that Jessica is in the wedding industry, we had a hunch that the decor at the Bath Club would be out of this world. We were right! The ceremony, reception and cocktail hour decor gave off a romantic and vintage feel. I adored the unique little touches, like the unexpected felt bird hanging out on a twig, or the cute little phrase on a pillow at the cocktail hour. They even had a sign in area that consisted of guests signing a globe. Like I said, I can go on and on about the details. We felt like ninjas with cameras trying to capture every linen, table, chair, flower, everything. What I think was most impressive was the distressed wood wall that was designed by Jessica herself. The wood walls were found on each end of the ballroom, one behind the sweet heart table and the other behind the DJ booth. This specific piece not only enhanced the room and showed off this grand ballroom, but it also had shelving that allowed for more florals; you must scroll down and see for yourself. The dinner had an intimate feel, although it was a large wedding, the lighting added the perfect touch. The night ended with a huge surprise! Before I say the surprise let me first tell you that Jessica and Steven are die hard Miami Heat fans, so much that we even included the Miami Airlines Arena in the engagement session. Jessica, being the coolest wife ever, arranged for Burnie (the Miami Heat mascot) to surprise Steven. Picture this… Steven and Jessica dancing, when all of the sudden the DJ changes the music and raises the volume, and with an arena voice the DJ announces everyone to look at the stage. Burnie jumps off the stage, darts towards the couple, tosses Steven over his back, and simultaneously confetti guns launched thousands of paper confetti onto the dance floor. It was such a fantastic feeling being on the dance floor, the energy was contagious. It was epic!

{Alexandra and Rene} Miami Destination Wedding | Shore Club Hotel

Categories: Weddings Tags: + + + + + + + + +
08.29.2014

Rene and Alexandra are world-travelers who decided to get married in Miami, Fl. Alex’s dad mentioned “No one ever has a bad time in Florida!” We agree. They both live in Canada, so the August heat was something they definitely weren’t used to. Although they were feeling the heat, we were able to get some cool, very Miami, tropical portraits of them. One of the most beautiful things about their wedding day was the summer rain in the far distance during their ceremony. A sunny day is always beautiful, but how great is it to get a different backdrop on your wedding day?! And in true Miami fashion, with a gloomy day, came a gorgeous sunset. Rene and Alex’s wedding took place on the rooftop of the Shore Club Hotel. With the cityscape as a backdrop we were able to get some portraits that are to die for. Not to mention the amount of fun they were having when the lights went down and they were on top of this amazing city, dancing the night away.
Press play and enjoy! Or scroll through! xoxo.

Although we love shooting the typical Miami wedding with 200 or more guests, every once in awhile it is such a breath of fresh air to photograph a small intimate wedding. Laura and Robert’s wedding was just that… small and intimate. Their wedding was in Vero Beach and included 50 close family and friends. The groom is in the Navy, and included his uniformed marine buddies, which made their wedding day extra special. There was lemonade and iced tea stand waiting for guests as they entered into the dinner, such a cute touch. We also loved the lime green color that was seen in the bridesmaid dresses and again seen at the dinner tables. The wedding had no fuss, just simple and sweet.

{Adri and Arne} Say I Do from PS Photography on Vimeo.

A wedding day that begins with calmness and ends with chaos, in our eyes is a perfect wedding! Adriana and Arne’s wedding day was just that– perfect! The day was beautiful, We arrived to the Epic hotel and were surprised to see the bride and groom were running ahead of schedule. Adriana began walking around the hotel room with out saying much. Her closest friends were around to make sure she had a smile on. Arne was dressed and ready with his groomsmen in the lobby. It was nice to start the day with so much calmness. We were able to photograph details, family portraits, and beautiful candids. The wedding day unfolded slowly and perfectly. Towards the end of the night the calmness disappeared and the music and energy took over. The party started and had no signs of slowing down. The guests filled the dance floor, and at the perfect time the Hora Loca began. Transformer look-a-likes entered on stilts equipped with smoke guns. Needless to say, that is when the chaos began. Guests were jumping with hands in the air. We left shortly after but the guests were expected to stay partying for 3 more hours! What a party!

Opposites seem to attract, at least it seems that way with Laura and Carlos. Their choice in shoes couldn’t prove this point any better… Carlos chose vintage Jordan’s and Laura chose classic Badgely Mischka heels. Much difference is seen between these two at first glance, but the more time spent with them the more we realize that they compliment each other very well. A good example is a toast that Carlos gave… He wittily mentioned that Laura doesn’t like public speaking “I will take one for the team!” The guests laughed and Laura blushed at the statement and nodded her head as though it was true. The ceremony took place at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Miami Beach. This is definitely one of our favorite churches in South Florida. We experimented a bit and found some new favorite spots in the church. The architecture and stain glass windows make this church stand out. Laura and Carlos hosted a reception for their guests at the Westin Colonnade. The room was filled with amber lighting and delicate flowers. One unexpected surprise at the reception were the masks handed out during the Hora Loca. Besides the traditional colorful feather masks, they also handed out comic inspired masks. Spiderman, Batman, and their friends were dancing the night away… a definite first for us!
